El Cacto is a manga style webcomic series by Danny Poloskei and Matthew Rushton. Updated irregularly in full chapters.

The original character design for El Cacto came from a drawing I submitted for bonus marks in a high school art class. I'm not entirely sure what I was thinking at the time, but one of my bonus drawings turned out to be a cactus with sunglasses, a sombrero, and a cigarette. A manga series called "Bakuman" gave me the idea to look back on some old drawings for ideas and inspiration. My target was an old comic series I was drawing on paper, but I ended up finding all kinds of stuff - some of it even looked useful for character design or storylines. That's when I rediscovered the cactus, and it made me laugh. I posted some of my findings on the forum, cactus included. The cactus was well received. Matthew Rushton started coming up with a story for the "cactus man" out of the blue. In the middle of his story, I thought it was a good idea and that we should make a comic series out of it. We developed the story a bit more, I added a few things later, and that turned into chapter 1. Then we began plotting chapter 2...
